Sedation Dentistry

Sedation Dentistry

Sedation Dentistry is a common practice for patients that experience fear and anxiety when visiting their dentist.   At DHC, we offer an easy and comfortable solution with our sedation process that will put your right at ease!

CONSCIOUS SEDATION: allows you to enter a state of relaxation using Nitrous Oxide, otherwise known as laughing as.  It is important to have the ability to respond to your dentist’s questions and commands during your procedure, so while you will not feel any pain you will still be able to communicate.

    • Adjustable: We can alter the depth of sedation at any time
    • There are no post procedure effects
    • Safe for heart and lungs to inhale, minimizes gag reflex
    • Works quickly to relax and calm our patients

MODERATE SEDATION:  The practice of moderate sedation is done through oral or IV methods of medicating.   Depending on the patient and the procedure, a drug is given orally or through a vein may be used to induce a sleep like sedation.  This procedure allows the dentist to monitor and adjust the level of the sedation.

DEEP SEDATION: This process makes you either almost unconscious or even totally unconscious by using mediations/anesthesia.    Being totally asleep during a procedure is preferred by many patients, so please do not be afraid to ask about our range of options for sedation dentistry.

Sedation is considered a safe option for those with fear and anxiety heading to the dentist, but it is important that we discuss your health background and medical history when choosing the best method for your procedure and your well-being! We want to ensure that you understand the process, the time needed to recover and affects you may feel during sedation.
